If it isn't broken…

…then don’t do anything like this with your own umbrellas. Here are a few interesting uses of umbrellas we've found which show amazing powers of recycling skill:

The umbrella dress, but of course! How else would one keep one's smalls dry? Bit tricky on a busy street too we think.

Don't throw that wind battered brolly on the skip. Sell it to a canine loving neighbour as an ultra-chic puppy protector. They'll thank you forever for ridding their house of wet dog smell all winter.

Not necessarily just for Halloween, this batty design can be rolled out for birthdays, weddings, children's parties....okay, maybe just Halloween.

We have a sneaking suspicion that this may actually be working model. But we also suspect we will probably never know.

But with all the fab fabrics in our range of umbrellas, it would be a shame if they weren't recycled when the time came, to make a nifty addition to anyone's wardrobe.

Admittedly this one may not have been broken when Britney started to use it as a car key but, hey, would you argue with her right then?

Alternative Umbrella Uses

 

As I sat over yet another coffee, I decided to come up with alternate uses for umbrellas.

Some of the things I came up with are as follows:

Self Defence Weapon

If, by some horrid twist of fate, your involved in a mugging or some similar crime, you could use the brolly as a weapon to give the potential criminal a right old whack.

Childs Poncho

If you have an old brolly or one where the ribs have snapped, why not take the material off and cut a hole in the centre of the fabric? Hey presto – a kids waterproof poncho!!

Leak Cover

If you have an annoying drip (no, I don’t mean the husband or boyfriend ladies!!) in the ceiling, drill a small hole next to the leak, put a hook in place, open the brolly upside down and catch all those annoying drips…just be careful to monitor the weight of the water.  Maybe not one for the superstitious though!!

Lamp Shade

Like the poncho, if your brolly is broken (and you have just bought a new one from www.theumbrellashop.co.uk) why throw away the fabric?  With the great designs we have on offer, recycle the fabric as a lampshade!!

Clothes Dryer

Take the fabric off, hand the brolly upside down and open on a shower rail…hey presto, a place to hang you wet clothes to dry, and not leave huge puddles of water anywhere apart from the shower/bath

Plant Stakes

The ribs make fantastic stakes to which to tie any top heavy plants in the garden.

Garden Trellis

Remove the fabric, push the handle into your garden and you have an instant trellis for any creeping plants.

Protect your seedlings

The umbrella makes protection for your seedlings from frost, slugs, birds etc etc.  Just open the brolly, and push it into the ground, covering your precious seedlings!!

Light Sabre

You can tell I am the guy in the office – all the above were thought of by the ladies (cough cough).  Each of the above is practical.   

However, the 'best' idea from my male perspective was as my light sabre or golf putter!!!
